Specific to each type, we can find many different pros and cons. In this context, we compare the same song between a Vocaloid and human voices. Intertextuality is the relationship between different texts. As each syllable is tailored to perfection when being created with the software, these songs could contain a lot more details than a human can control. One may say that these details are left out intentionally because the artist may want to transform it more to their style, but even if an artist tried, I believe it would be very hard to stay consistent and replicate the song exactly. However, humans are not as perfect as machines, and so it will be extremely hard for them to replicate each little detail of the songs. Every time you have Rin “sing” the song, all the little details will always be exactly where they should be each time. What Kagamine Rin can achieve will always consistently be more complex than what a human voice can consistently reach. However, many little details are lost in the covers, due to human imperfection. In this song, I believe it was meant to be a romantically light and waltzy song. However, I believe that some elements of a song should never be changed, depending on the specific song itself. With covers, singers will take the song into their own hands and put their own style to it. Nevertheless, this singer did a good job. I do not really like this version as much as Lucy’s or the original, because I feel as though this song should be a romantic serenade, but it feels as though she has transformed it into a more powerful and upbeat song. She seems to have sang this song with a little more power, which I feel deviates even farther from the original. Unlike Lucy’s soft and soothing voice, her voice is sharper and stronger. This version is sung by Mienzhyre as a birthday gift to her “wife”. I went ahead and found another cover for this song: However, Lucy did not manage to capture the strong swing from dynamics in the original. When Lucy sings this song, her voice is a lot smoother and soothing, compared to Kagamine Rin’s choppy voice. I suppose Vocaloids is more of an acquired taste. Nevertheless, the more I listen to the Vocaloid version, the more I enjoy it. Personally, her voice is more pleasing to my ear, partially because I am not used to the robotic style of the Vocaloids. Lucy used an English translation of this song in place of the Japanese. I believe this song was created from Kagamine Rin Append WARM software. During the song, one can feel the slight swing Kagamine Rin gives off with her emphasis on certain syllables in the song. The lyrics serenades about how a couple that has been left alone romantically enjoys their time together. It also incorporates a little bit of English and French amongst the Japanese lyrics. Listening to it makes one’s body calm and light. It has a jazzy style to this song with a dreamy waltz feel to it. DATEKEN specializes in composing Kagamine music. Honeymoon is a Kagamine Rin song written by DATEKEN. One of her recent ones she sang for Valentine’s Day is HoneyMoon Un Deux Trois. A few of the covers she sings are originally vocaloid songs.
